Gort planning stage

I was watching the classic movie The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) and I wondered if I had a Gort where on earth do you put something like that.
This is how my Gort prop project started.

As always, I planned what I wanted it will do and then a made a list of what I could actually get him to do.

Head tilt.

Visor open\close

Laser beams

Other stuff….

I scoured the Internet and my DVD box set for enough information to guess the height of Gort. I did

some research about the chap that stood inside Gorts suit.

It turns out there were many variations of suits some larger and some smaller.

I chose a reasonable scale and size that I was happy with.

This project started in July 2007 and has\ will take a while to finish.
